With every new vendor consigning items, along with a receipt for your goods, you will be handed our Selling With Us document, which outlines the process of selling at auction and the relevant fees. We aim to offer a high quality service to our clients, with our Pre Sale Valuations available to prospective vendors without obligation.
Selling Fees
Our Selling Commission is just 18%+VAT. As the vendor, you will pay a 1.5%+VAT insurance fee and a £3.60 lotting fee per listing entered into auction. You may be subject to a PAT Testing fee of £2+VAT per lot for electrical goods. These fees include the photography and listing of your items to our three online bidding platforms.
Valuation Days & House Visits
We offer free valuations Monday-Friday at the saleroom 10am-4pm. For large consignments or furniture, please arrive at the loading bay, located at the rear of the building. It is normally best to avoid auction days, as the valuer staff may not be on-hand immediately.
You can also find our Valuers every Friday & Saturday at Northwich Radio (16A Leicester St, Northwich CW9 5LA), from 10am-4pm.
For larger collections/furniture items, we will ask for you to send an email across of some photographs of the items and we can get our valuers to appraise them for you and we can then get you booked in for a house visit if suitable for auction.
Payments
Providing the buyer has paid for your goods, we will pay you via Direct Bank Transfer approximately five weeks following the Auction in which your items have sold. You will receive an emailed statement once your payment has been processed.
Things to note
Many people will do some research themselves before bringing items to us. This can be helpful, but some online sites and printed media display wildly inflated 'asking prices' which are not representative of achievable values at auction.
Our minimum accepted bid is £10 in the Home & Garden and specialist collectors auctions. The Antiques & Collectors sale has a minimum accepted bid of £20. Whilst we are happy to accept lower-value lots for sale, it is worth remembering that once fees are deducted there may not be a huge amount to come back to you. One item sold at £10 will return less than £5 after fees deducted.
When consigning items, any reserves must be discussed at this point. Once a catalogue is published, it can be detrimental to later change the estimate to be in line with a reserve, as catalogues are viewed immediately.
All our correspondence is by email, so make sure you check your junk/spam folder if you haven't had a welcome email from us within a couple of days. If you still haven't received this, please contact the office on 01925 658833.
We work on behalf of the vendor to achieve the best price we can - that is how we make our money - so we will always do our best for you, advertising worldwide on three different online bidding sites, offering postage on many items for prospective buyers.
Unsold Items
You will receive a Post Sales Advice email on the Monday following our extended Timed Sale. This will outline which of your items have sold and which remain unsold. All unsold items in the Antiques & Collectables, Militaria and Toy & Games Sales may be entered into a second sale with the same charges as above.
All unsold items in our Home & Garden Sale will be tried once, then passed to our chosen Charity. It is your responsibility as the vendor to contact us regarding all unsold goods.
The Auctioneer may decide to collate some of your items together, potentially entering them into our Home & Garden Sale.
Any reserves may be reduced without discussion. If we do not hear from you when your items have been in two sales and remain unsold then we will presume that they have been abandoned and they will automatically be donated to our supported charity, Life Church (Barnton).
