Buying

Buying at auction for the first time can be a daunting experience, but do not fear! We are here to help and make this process as smooth and easy as possible for you.

Buyers Fees

When buying at any Auction, you will pay the hammer price and a buyers premium on top. Our Buyers Premium is just 24%+VAT. This means if you win a lot for £100 hammer, with the buyers premium you will pay approximately £129. If you are using one of our online platforms there will be an extra fee on top;

our very own bidding platform, Warrington Live = additional 2%+VAT

www.easyliveauction.co.uk = additional 3%+VAT

www.the-saleroom.com = additional 5.94%+VAT

Payments Accepted

We accept payments by cash or debit card on site in Warrington. Alternately, you can process your Invoice payment via Direct Bank Transfer to the details at the bottom of your invoice. We do not accept payment by credit card or PayPal and do not take payment over the telephone.

In The Room

Traditionally, our customers attend our sales in person, meaning you can enjoy the live auction and get a true sense of what an auction is really about! All you need to do is simply speak to a member of The Office and they will get you registered. After you've registered (you will be asked for photographic identification, so please have your driving license or passport ready) and collected your very own paddle number you are free to bid in the auction rooms. You only need register once for a paddle number and this number may be used at every Warrington & Northwich Auction. The auctioneer will announce bids and if you are interested in buying the item raise your paddle and continue bidding until you wish to stop, or if everyone else stops bidding, the auctioneer will bring down the gavel and you are the winner of the lot! Invoices can be settled with the Office Team immediately after the fall of the hammer and our Porters will be on-site to assist in the collection of your goods.

By Commission Bid

If you are unable to attend an auction you can instruct us to bid on your behalf. You can submit your bids to us by filling in our Commission Bidding Form in the auction room and leaving it with a member of staff or simply send us an email to enquiries@warringtonauction.co.uk. Alternately, if you are bidding on one of our online platforms, you can leave autobids directly through your account. If your bids are successful we will email the invoice to you on the morning following the sale.

By Telephone

If you prefer to bid by telephone please contact our office on 01925 658833. Unfortunately we cannot offer telephone bids on items which have an estimate of less than £50.00. When booking a telephone bid, you are agreeing to bid the lower estimate of the lot. Once you have been registered as a buyer and the telephone bid has been booked, we will call you during the auction approximately 10 lots before and bid on your behalf to your instructions.

Tips on Bidding

Most importantly, VIEW THE AUCTION ROOMS! If you are unable to attend our Viewing Day, please feel free to request a condition report or additional pictures for the lot you are interested in. Not all lots are free from imperfection, and our condition reports are completely free of charge. You will be required to email us so we can speak to our specialists for further information on a particular lot. The most important point is to remember that Buyers Commission will be added onto the hammer price.

Condition Report

We offer condition reports FREE of charge for all of our sales. We do ask that ALL condition reports are requested via email. Condition Reports are offered at the sole discretion of the Auction House and this service can be withdrawn or suspended without any notice. All condition reports must be submitted by 1pm on the day prior to each of our sales.

Collection of items

All items must be paid for and collected by 16:00 on the Monday following the sale. Any items not paid for or collected by this time will incur a storage charge of £5 per lot, per day. We are open every Thursday, Friday and Monday following the Tuesday and Wednesday Auctions from 10:00 - 16:00. If you have arranged with a courier to collect on your behalf, please email us to advise. Please note we do not pack for couriers.

Postage & Packaging

If you are unable to collect your goods, we offer in-house Postage & Packing for most items. Our prices start from as little as £16.00+VAT to Mainland UK and we can ship Worldwide too! Please refer to the second lot of each of our sales to obtain further information.
